Activity Description & Educational Objectives

In this activity, an expert panel discusses strategies for diagnosing and treating patients with hereditary angioedema (HAE), focusing on prophylactic and acute therapeutic approaches, available treatment options, and methods for improving quality of life in patients with this disease.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Apply evidence-based strategies to the differential diagnosis of HAE, with a focus on early clinical identification of this disease
  • Summarize prophylactic and acute treatment strategies for the management of HAE, including the timing of preventative measures versus on-demand therapeutic decisions
  • Evaluate mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety of available therapies to prevent and rapidly treat HAE attacks
  • Employ methods to improve quality of life in patients with HAE, such as the development of individualized treatment regimens and providing increased access to therapy

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of allergists, clinical immunologists, primary care physicians, gastroenterologists, and other clinicians involved in the care of patients with hereditary angioedema.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
