Program Description & Educational Objectives
In this three-part activity, experts in the treatment of chronic pain discuss the latest information pertaining to the management of this condition. Highlights of this program include a succinct overview of the pathophysiology and characteristics of chronic pain, practical considerations for individualizing therapy in this patient population, and potential strategies to optimize the management of chronic pain by improving treatment adherence, enhancing patient-practitioner communication, and minimizing medication misuse or abuse.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Describe the underlying pathophysiological properties and characteristics of the various types of chronic pain
- Develop and implement treatment strategies for the management of individual patients with chronic pain after careful consideration of their pain etiology and characteristics, as well as analysis of recent clinical trial data
- Propose effective strategies for the optimization of the management of chronic pain by improving treatment adherence and patient communication, and minimizing medication misuse or abuse
Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians and other clinicians involved in the management of patients with chronic pain.
Requirements for Successful Completion

There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
