Program Description & Educational Objectives
In this activity, three experts on women’s health debate the current disparities and needs as well as the latest recommendations and best practices for preconception counseling and care of women of reproductive age. Practical guidance will be offered through a discussion of patient scenarios, and key questions and areas of controversy will also be addressed.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Interpret and apply to practice the current recommendations and best practices for preconception counseling and care in female patients of child-bearing age
- Demonstrate knowledge of the latest evidence related to the benefits of folate supplementation on fetal development, and make appropriate recommendations regarding doses and sources of folate to all female patients of child-bearing age
- Develop and implement effective strategies to ensure optimal preconception counseling and care is provided to all female patients of child-bearing age during routine office visits
Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of US obstetricians, gynecologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other medical professionals involved in the care of female patients of child-bearing age.
Requirements for Successful Completion
In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME/CNE/CPE credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
