Program Description & Educational Objectives
In this activity, experts in gastroenterology discuss strategies to induce and maintain remission in patients with ulcerative colitis, with the goals of preventing symptomatic and endoscopic relapse, and minimizing the risk for colectomy and colorectal cancer. Strategies to maximize patient adherence to therapy and improve quality of life are also thoroughly examined.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Critically evaluate the latest evidence on characteristics, benefits, limitations, effectiveness, and safety of the different maintenance treatment options for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).
- Routinely inform and educate patients with UC about the benefits of maintenance treatment and the importance of adherence to maintenance treatment.
- Implement individualized induction and maintenance treatment plans based on the efficacy/safety profile and factors influencing adherence such as cost, number of tablets, and dosing regimens, with a goal of achieving the best long-term outcome and quality of life for patients with UC.
Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists and other clinicians involved in the management of patients with ulcerative colitis.

There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
